Anyone here familiar with link parties? It's where a blog/website "hosts" a party where other people can link up things from their blogs. An example of it can be found here. It's an awesome way for lots of people to see a shit ton of great posts in one place.
I've been kicking around the idea of hosting one weekly, but wanted to get your input before I shell out the money for the hosting fees. Would you participate? Would you be willing to link up? I don't want to be the lame ass who is all alone at the party. At least there will be some appetizers to munch one while I kill time.
If I move forward, I need a theme. I'm thinking "mostly homemade Mondays" or something like that. There are some natural food blogs that I enjoy, but their link parties are so strict "absolutely no store bought food in recipes that you're linking". Yeah, cause I make olive oil at home...?
The "party" could be for recipes, crafts, gardening stuff, etc.
The cost of the link party is nominal, but your participation will make it worth it!
So, you in? No? Yes? Bueller?
PS, does anyone remember Jesse and the Rippers from Full House?

DeleteI would participate especially if you keep the rules kind of loose. I do some link ups when I can match a post to their topics but I'd really love something that was just a good frugal ideas without it being so strict. Besides I truly enjoy your blog and would love to share.

ReplyDeleteI can send you some via email if you'd like to email me. Basically there aren't a lot that I "enjoy". I do get information from them, but I always feel like a piece a shit most of the time because I don't chug cod liver oil and I occasionally buy Annie's bunny crackers.

ReplyDeleteI've done a few "link up" posts using Simply Linked and never had to pay a fee.
Just created my own button and asked my readers if they participate to include my image in their post. I must be missing something here (or I've been doing it wrong!)
With the company I was looking at, there is a cost ($24 per year). I'll look in to Simply Linked. Thank you!

ReplyDeleteI remember Jesse and the Rippers, but I have had to block out most of my Full House memories after seeing the movie "Half Baked" and hearing Bob Saget shout, "I've sucked d*** for coke!". That's the kind of moment that can retroactively spoil a childhood.

ReplyDeleteI would love to participate in a less intimidating link party! I'm pretty sure I would be blocked from most of the sites that you mentioned. I sometimes even use things that come out of a CAN! lol (I do bake my own bread now though, so it all evens out...)
